2003 (when the photo was taken)Student DescriptionThe Texas A&M University Aggie Ring is a tradition as revered as the university itself, symbolic of the hard work necessary to attain it and of membership in the Texas A&M family. For more than 100 years, Aggies have worn the distinctive gold bands to symbolize their pride in their alma mater. The shield on top of the ring symbolizes protection of the good reputation of the alma mater, while its 13 stripes represent the 13 original states as a demonstration of Aggies’ intense patriotism and love of country. The five stars in the shield stand for the phases of development of the student: mind or intellect, body, spiritual attainment, emotional poise, and integrity of character. The eagle is symbolic of agility and power, and ability to reach great heights.
