Major: Art & Design Department (This Major's Salary over time)
So heres the Real Deal, before reading all the Nay-Sayers.Every school is different and especially AAU is run independently per department, by Holy Sh*t professionals that have been there done that type of people (ie: Tom Matano, designer of mazda Miata; Glady Palmer, internationally known fashion illustrator, etc)Artschool is meant for the driven, the self disciplined and self motivated, i'd assume because that as an artist/ designer is who he/she makes them to be. That said……Artschool is to better oneself. Its expensive, hands down, just is, if you find a cheaper school, sadly in the US this compromises quality of classes and curriculum. So this review is for Industrial Design and the Fashion Dept. Both are serious departments, and both dept. are not meant for the weak, theres alot of work, alot of mental dedication. Teachers are real, and precise. the fashion dept has a little more creative leniency. If you lack discipline, your work will show, and your esteem/drive will diminish. You def. go to this school for its network opportunities between the faculty and being in downtown San Francisco. this school is industry driven the faculty actually promote this, they want you to get a job cause its their reputation, its shitty, but the point of goin to artschool is kinda sorta to make sure you can feed yourself. so bring on the competition and give it a try. oh yeh..so far being my 2nd year most my classes start with nearly 20 students ending the semesters with less than half. Not a school for those that skip classes, once you fall behind it gets tough.
